Aveona Shannon is an American contemporary painter based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is currently completing her BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting and Drawing at Louisiana State University. Primarily working in oils on canvas with selective mixed-media elements, Shannon’s practice is driven by a deep commitment to spreading the gospel, exploring spiritual conviction, and reflecting on the shared human experience.

While her work thoughtfully examines the temporary nature of material pursuits, it is equally rooted in offering an intentional counterweight to emotional heaviness—radiating warmth, joy, and spiritual reassurance. As an emerging Black female artist, Shannon uses her paintbrush to boldly declare the message of Christ, bridging sacred devotion with Black aesthetic identity. Her paintings assert that personal style, cultural adornment, and genuine spirituality can coexist without compromise or societal stigma. Originally pursuing pre-nursing, Shannon made a deliberate, faith-driven pivot to fine art, approaching her practice with disciplined resilience and a deep commitment to her calling.
